about
A poem I wrote in 2018 that sparked the song...
Alone Stands a Patriot,
Looking out his window at the snow lit night,
What is America and all its might?
American history intertwined, good, bad and indifferent in each mind,
What is a patriots find?
Freedom, Virtue, and Faith.
Liberty stands on its own,
Beckoning with hopeful tone,
For freedom loving and virtuous soles to find home.
It stands for what America is and is yet not,
Ever holding out hope to those who wish to reclaim Liberties lot.
Freedom, virtue, and faith.
Whatever becomes of this mighty state,
These three must remain,
Forever solemn and requite,
They light the way through the dark night.
Pure, driven, snow,
For those truly committed to liberty, will find its light glow.
It is, and it must be,
Freedom, virtue and faith.
These three remain,
Come by populist or by solitary vow,
Hung from doorways and bows,
Liberty, our wind-swept plane,
Our solemn vow.
